School of the Future Winners Go to
GREEN BUILD 2008
It was a whirlwind of an experience this past week. Going to Boston for one of the largest international conferences about building green was amazing. There were 30,000 people in attendance. They were all looking to improve the way we live and improve our future. Architects, Facility Planners, Homeowners, Contractors, and General Business Owners all gathered in one place to see what they could do to make their building projects friendly to our environment. We met people from California, Ohio, Tennessee, Mozambique and India. That was just in our hotel. The conference was full of interesting, informative trade booths that lend well to curious teenagers who were willing to learn and listen.
The School of the Future Students were invited to go to the Conference by the USGBC and Autodesk to present their Nationally acclaimed Design Project. They were given the star treatment by Autodesk, where they were treated like celebraties. In a crowd of 30,000 people it is nice to be the only 4 kids.

The bigest highlight of the conference was seeing the Keynote Speaker, Desmond Tutu. He was a wonderful, gracious, inspirational speaker. He left a feeling of goodness in your heart and a sense that great things can be accomplished if we start now and work together.

Another highlight of the conference was the Gala at the Boston Children's Museum. There was an private evening party at the museum fo any atendee of the conference. Being the only kids our Core Four stuck together with me and we went off and played. It was great because I got to play a little too!!
Over breakfast one morning we met the production crew for Today's Homeowner. It is a national television show staring Allen Lyle. They were so excited about the kids and their involvement in the Expo that they put them in their Documentary Special. It should be finished some time in the spring. We all look forward to seeing it. Check out his Blog (Allen Lyle) on the site below!

The students presented three times during the conference and rose to the occasion each and every time. Many parents went to support the team and it was great to have the help and company along the way. Check out our slide show below to see some of the high lights.
