Investigating Multipule Professions in Art, Culinary and Technology

Open to students in grades 7 & 8 - Taught by Unified Arts Team

The UA IMPACT program is designed to help each student make a connection between the classroom and the world around them.  Through hands-on activities, projects, field trips, guest speakers and class assignments, students will observe and gain a more global understanding of the concept of service, community, and career fields.  This understanding will be based on the interests and talents of students and how they relate to a possible career choice.

The class is co-taught by the Art, Family Consumer Sciences, and Technology Education teachers.  The curriculum is flexible and changes every year for a new and unique experience.

We do things likeOrineteering and Map Making, Cake Decorating, Photoshop and Graphics, Architecture, and many Service Projects.

I am involved in the Technology Piece of IMPACT.  In the past years we have done projects that include manufacturing outdoor furniture, using the green house to grow vegetables through traditional and hydroponic agriculture, created board games for third grade students in Hartford. etc.
