ATHLETIC PHILOSOPHY

At Lyme-Old Lyme Public Schools, we believe that athletics are an essential extension of the classroom, supporting the development of the whole student. Our education-based athletic program promotes personal growth, teamwork, self-expression, and social responsibility. Through well-organized and inclusive opportunities, we aim to foster physical, emotional, and moral development in all student-athletes. We are committed to meeting the needs of both individuals and teams, while reinforcing the core values of our educational mission.

Athletics Mission Statement

The mission of the Lyme-Old Lyme Athletic Program is to support the district’s commitment to developing skilled problem solvers, effective communicators, and contributing citizens by providing a comprehensive, education-based athletic experience.

Through participation in athletics, students extend their learning beyond the classroom—building character, teamwork, resilience, and a sense of responsibility. Our program fosters personal and collective growth, encouraging student-athletes to strive for excellence while upholding the values of accountability, respect, integrity and perseverance.

Core Values

As a collective learning community, we VALUE opportunities to strengthen and develop:

Accountability: by taking ownership, demonstrating responsibility, and fulfilling the         expectations of one’s role and actions.

Respect: by expressing worth or honor towards a person, property, or circumstance that is guaranteed for all, by all.

Integrity: by adhering to strict moral principles governed by honesty, pride, and responsibility.

Perseverance: by demonstrating continued effort and determination to achieve success.
