TOWN OF OLD LYME

Town of Old Lyme

Old Lyme is a community of approximately 8,000 permanent residents and an additional several thousand seasonal visitors who occupy a shoreline complex of summer residences. Old Lyme is located on the east bank of the mouth of the Connecticut River where it meets Long Island Sound and has a long-standing commitment to the arts.

Old Lyme is a bedroom community for people who work in New London, Groton, New Haven, Hartford, and even outside Connecticut. Many residents work at General Dynamics Electric Boat and Pfizer, Inc., or with numerous spin-off businesses associated with the U.S. Navy.

The town is part of the Lyme-Old Lyme Public Schools, Regional School District #18, which consists of two elementary schools (Lyme Consolidated School K-5, Mile Creek School K-5), a preschool center (Center School), a middle school (Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School 6-8) and high school (Lyme-Old Lyme High School 9-12).
