Lyme-Old Lyme Public Schools’ budget development process is highly collaborative and participatory among the administrative team, Board of Education, local political leaders and community members. The Board of Education and Administrative Team meet with the Lyme and Old Lyme Selectmen and Boards of Finance members several times between November and April. Our commitment to the District’s Strategic Plan enhances organizational focus and guides the decision-making and fiscal management of the district. Funding for academic programming and improvement initiatives is equitable within each of our five schools. Professional development is well-funded to support district/building goals, and staff members are encouraged at all levels within the organization to enhance their skill set.
Class size guidelines and small schools are hallmarks of our district and supported by the Board of Education and the community. The Curriculum Steering Committee, comprised of teaching staff, administration, community and Board of Education members, meets regularly to discuss and review district priorities, assess the progress of current/proposed initiatives and identify areas of required district improvement.
