The purpose of this page is to educate staff on new IT initiatives.


2009 Technology Initiatives  

Upgrade to Office 2007

  • We will be upgrading to Office 2007 (from Office 2003) with the goal of updating all district computers by the start of the 2009-2010 school year.
  • Some relevant facts you should be aware of about Office 2007:
    • Office 2007 documents end in 4-letter suffixes (i.e., Word documents end in ".docx" as opposed ".doc").
    • Office 2007 CAN open previous versions of Office documents.
    • Office 2003 CANNOT open documents created in Office 2007 unless you install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack (already installed on district computers).
    • To install Compatibility Pack at home, free download can be found at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/HA101686761033.aspx
  • Staff training on Office 2007 applications will be given.

Obtaining Office 2007 License for Home Use

  • Go to https://hup.microsoft.com and enter the Program Code (contact Tammy Noyes for code).
  • Microsoft will send you disks for loading Office 2007 at home for a nominal fee (approximately $20.00).
  • Products availabile under the Home Use Program:
    • Microsoft Office (Mac 2004 and 2008 versions also available)
    • Microsoft Visio
    • Microsoft Project
    • Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer
